Alaska

Alaska CP 2.0“Alaska changed my life. It gave me the opportunity to spread the word of God in a way I never had and in a place I never could have imagined. The people of Alaska are in dire need of Hope. Although we may never see the fruits of our labors, I pray that the people of St. Mary’s and all of Alaska will come to know the person of Jesus Christ and believe in their hearts that he died for each one of them, personally and individually. Not a single day goes by that I don’t think about my experiences in Alaska. The people I met there are always in my heart and on my mind. I wouldn’t give those 12 days up for anything.”

Alaska # 1:

Join the amazing adventure of sharing the love of Christ in an isolated village in Southeast Alaska. No roads lead to this village. You can only arrive by air or by water. After arriving in Juneau we will fly to the village of Yakutat where we will work with kids and adults doing catechesis while sharing the hope of Christ. You will have the opportunity to learn the culture and traditions from native Alaskans while being surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the ocean, mountains, and glaciers.  Before heading home you will have the opportunity to check off your bucket list hiking in a temperate rain forest, touching a glacier, and seeing humpback whales.

Alaska #2:

Brave the Alaskan frontier penetrable only by boat or plane to bring the gospel of Christ to a remote land! This exciting mission trip will focus upon sharing the love of Christ with native Alaskans who have little access to the outside world. Join us as we travel to Juneau and then to the remote fishing village of Hoonah where you will spend the week doing catechesis and sharing the hope of Christ. Through these experiences, you will learn about the culture and traditions of these native Alaskans while being immersed in some of the most beautiful scenery on the planet.

  1. Each FOCUS Missions participant has the opportunity to fundraise the entire cost of their mission trip. Consider that fundraising allows people who may not have the opportunity to travel on a mission trip to participate in this essential work through you. In another sense, “some give by going while others go by giving.” Allowing others to support us through their financial commitments and prayers is essential to the success of FOCUS Missions!
  2. You will be contacted by your personal fundraising coach soon after you have been accepted on a mission trip to train and mentor you in each step along the way.
  3. Please feel free to contact us at any time by phone or email with your fundraising questions.

This mission trip gave me the opportunity to be encompassed in an area of the world with people who are in need of the love and warmth of Christ. I can’t explain how life-changing it was to get to know and love people of a different culture. The response and progress of the village gave me a first hand account of how much the Holy Spirit can move through people. My brothers and sisters in St. Michael will forever be in my heart and prayers.
