South India

“I went to India to change the lives of others and found out quickly that the opposite was happening. The poorest of the poor taught me more on lessons of humility and patience than any mentor or teacher could have. My experience changed my life forever and will be something I will never forget.”

Imagine walking in the footsteps of some of the great missionary saints of the Church: St. Thomas the Apostle, the great Jesuit missionary St. Francis Xavier, and modern day hero Blessed Mother Teresa.  In this trip we will partner with Jesus Youth, a zealous missionary movement originating in India.  Together we will seek to grow as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ through the living out of the Gospel through various apostolate activities throughout the many states of India.  In this way we will seek to understand and live out the missionary mandate given by Christ before His ascension: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations..”  Potential works include parish missions, hospital visits, prayer meetings, and intercessory prayer.  Expect long travels through high elevations, winding roads, and with intermediate rains.  Expect to encounter the face of Christ, and expect to never be the same.

This mission includes pilgrimage to the likes of Goa and Chennai  to see the remains of St. Francis Xavier and St. Thomas the Apostle.

“So many of our brothers and sisters are living without the strength, light, and consolation born of friendship with Jesus Christ, without a community of faith to support them, without meaning and a goal in life” – Pope Francis – together let us seek to build up the communities of faith in India and to invite souls to encounter in Jesus Christ a friendship that lasts throughout eternity.

  1. Each FOCUS Missions participant has the opportunity to fundraise the entire cost of their mission trip. Consider that fundraising allows people who may not have the opportunity to travel on a mission trip to participate in this essential work through you. In another sense, “some give by going while others go by giving.” Allowing others to support us through their financial commitments and prayers is essential to the success of FOCUS Missions!
  2. You will be contacted by your personal fundraising coach soon after you have been accepted on a mission trip to train and mentor you in each step along the way.
  3. Please feel free to contact us at any time by phone or email with your fundraising questions.

“I learned what it truly meant to love others with out expecting anything in return as I couldn’t communicate with anyone there except through love. I also am finally starting to realize the true value of suffering and how beautiful it is. I have grown closer to God as I learn to love Him not only in the good times, but that when I am sad and suffering, then I can show God how much I truly love Him. Even with all the pain and suffering there, it is such a beautiful place when you see the love the Missionaries of Charity are bringing to that world.”
