Hosted by the Filipino GK Build program, this Catholic-based organization has been hosting student groups for one to two week long immersions for 6 years. As Christ lived among the poor and downtrodden, so too will we as we work in the Filipino slums to build homes and transform a community through the light of Christ. Working with GK, you will be able to experience poverty but also see hope, transforming a culture and creating a belief in the dignity of all people.
In addition to the above, the Philippines trip will first be going to Singapore and Malaysia. Here we will encounter the Catholic Church in a new light by experiencing it outside of our own culture. Imagine coming face-to-face with Christ in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Melaka as we explore these cities and gain new perspectives of the Universal Family we are all a part of! The majority of our work will be in Melaka, Malaysia – the base of St. Francis Xavier as he launched his missionary efforts to India and China. Picture yourself following in the footsteps of one of the Church’s greatest missionaries as we work with and train college-aged students from Malaysia and Singapore in the work of spreading the Gospel and discipleship in a part of the world where the faith is being oppressed. Afterwards, this delegation of young adults from Malaysia and Singapore will join us as we travel to the Philippines to begin our work there. The goal is to share our experiences of faith from opposite sides of the world, experience Catholicism’s universality and to help each other grow in love for the Church! Price includes: Roundtrip airfare from Los Angeles (or other US departure city determined by the Mission Director), travel insurance, pre-trip orientation retreat, post-trip debriefing retreat, all food, lodging, and in-country transportation.(Does not include immunizations and travel meds, your travel to/from departure city, passport/visa expenses, other personal incidentals).

- Each FOCUS Missions participant has the opportunity to fundraise the entire cost of their mission trip.Consider that fundraising allows people who may not have the opportunity to travel on a mission trip to participate in this essential work through you. In another sense, “some give by going while others go by giving.” Allowing others to support us through their financial commitments and prayers is essential to the success of FOCUS Missions!
